WHAT IS 4-FMA?

The initial synthesis of 4-FMA first appeared on the market in 2006, but the initial time of discovery remains unknown. The formal chemical name for 4-FMA is 4-Fluoromethamphetamine. The formula weight/mass of 4-FMA is 167.227 g·mol−1 while the molecular formula is C10H14FN. 

Compounds in this chemical family have a base of phenethylamine core with a phenyl ring attached to an amino group via an ethyl chain featuring an additional methyl substitution. In fact, this is what gives rise to the name amphetamine, which is a short version of the official name alpha-methylphenethylamine. 

This particular molecule has a fluorine atom at the R4 space on its phenyl ring. As such, researchers can expect it to share a number of similarities with this amphetamine as well as other substances in this category. There is limited data regarding the use of 4-FMA, although it is speculated to operate in a similar manner as other stimulants in the same class. These substances exhibit dopaminergic and serotonergic properties.
